Two Passports Top Tip
To save money, have your big meal in the afternoon - you can eat a two or three-course meal on a pre-theatre menu in a high-quality restaurant for a fraction of the price. However, if you simply must eat in the evening, we'd recommend the following:
The Lyric
Behind Piccadilly Circus is one of the best pubs in the city. You're drinking Liquid History - the Victorian pub is cosy with fireplaces and rich wooden decor. Its Sunday Roasts are legendary; there is a sharing option (£30) where beautiful cuts of meat and vegetables all served in one huge Yorkshire pudding with lashings of gravy. A fantastic alternative is Lamb & Flag in Rose Street.
Le Gavroche
Arguably London's most renowned fine dining restaurant, Le Gavroche specialises in French cuisine to the ultimate standard. It is the perfect spot for an impeccable meal. This is a pricey experience, ranging upwards of £200 for dinner and drinks for two.
Le Gavroche is located in Mayfair, the epicentre for luxury and fine-dining restaurants. You'll also find gems such as The Greenhouse and iconic hotel restaurants The Connaught and Claridge's.
Rules
Near the Covent Garden piazza is London's oldest restaurant and another fine-dining spot of fabulous opulence and excellent food to match. Its cocktail bar upstairs is a secret, so keep quiet!
Bar Pepito
Tucked away inconspicuously by Kings Cross station, Bar Pepito transports you to a rustic tapas bar in rural Spain. Hanging ham, wine-decorated walls and flamenco music will greet you from outside the bar.
MeatLiquor
A small London chain dotted throughout the city and a lot more informal than those above serving up a small menu specialising in burgers, wings and hot dogs. The Monkey Fingers are a particular favourite!
Blacklock
A meat lovers paradise in Shoreditch, Blacklock cooks up the best steaks possible. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative visit Flat Iron.
Casa Fofo
Casa Fofo, in Hackney, offers up the best vegan and vegetarian food in the city. For an alternative, Mildred's is also a sure-fire winner too!
Brick Lane
Stretched in East London, Brick Lane is the city's primary neighbourhood for excellent Indian cuisine at affordable prices. The perfect place to try Britain's national dish - Chicken Tikka Masala!

This tapas joint in Leicester Square is a fantastic alternative to Bar Pepito if you're looking for Catalonian-influenced food. You can find special offers throughout the week, such as 50% off on Mondays.
