Porto is home to some of the most beautiful bright blue and white tiles that magnificently cover the city - these are called azulejo tiles.
You'll find azulejo tiles on almost every corner on every street in Porto. They are an iconic symbol of the country with controversial beginnings; some say it stretches as far back as the 12th-century, where families would portray their wealth on their houses.
Oh, and they make the perfect souvenir!
As you can imagine with any city's icon, there are a plethora of souvenir shops displaying azulejo tiles in every format in Porto. From a simple tile, to a coaster, to a magnet. It's hard to separate tacky from authentic.
Well, we're here to help! If you're looking for a souvenir azulejo tile, these are our recommendations:

An excellent read. These tiles were something I'd never heard of before, but they're definitely on a got to have list now. I last visited Portugal in my late teens, so this is definitely an excuse for heading back!
